PROFESSIONAL CHAPTERS

We are currently developing our plans for establishing professional chapters, including physical and virtual chapters. We also are seeking to build mutually beneficial, collaborative relationships with new or existing organizations, from international to local levels. Stay tuned for details.

Acadiana Chapter — Meets every 5th Friday and other announced dates. Join us for a luncheon meeting at the Petroleum Club, Lafayette, Louisiana. Buffet lunch includes multiple entrees, including fried shrimp on Fridays, multiple sides, and salad bar.

The Acadiana Chapter served as the primary host society for the SAGE 2022 convention & exposition, 23–25 March, at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette and Virtually.

The Acadiana Chapter is currently planning the 2nd Applied Geoscience and Engineering Symposium (SAGE AGES #2) to be held 30 June 2022 in Lafayette, LA, and VIrtually.

 

Benghazi, Libya Chapter — Currently under formal organization. The Benghazi group, led by Salah S. El-Ekhfifi, Chapter Founder and President, organized the 1st Applied Geoscience and Engineering Symposium (SAGE AGES #1) as part of the SAGE 2022 Convention and Exposition.

The Benghazi group is currently planning the SAGE Benghazi International Geoscience and Engineering Conference (SAGE BIGEC) to be held 30 August–01 September 2022 in Benghazi, Libya, and Virtually.

AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS

We are excited to have the Lafayette Geological Society join us as an affiliated organization co-hosting our upcoming SAGE 2022 conference and exhibition.

Lafayette Geological Society (LGS) — Meets every 3rd Wednesday from September through May at the Petroleum Club, Lafayette, Louisiana. Join them for a luncheon presentation and buffet lunch (11:30–1:00). LGS hosts other events, including a Fall BBQ co-hosted with the Southwest Louisiana Geophysical Society (SWLGS) (tickets available for the 2021 event on Oct. 21) and a Spring Meet-and-Greet for UL–Lafayette students and LGS professional members. The Lafayette Geological Society is serving as a co-host of the SAGE 2022 convention & exposition, 23–25 March, at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette.

Association of Applied Geoscientists (AAG) — AAG represents the initial formulation and progenitor of SAGE. AAG has run multiple field trips and was a Platinum sponsor of GeoGulf 2020 and Gold sponsor of AAPG ICE 2020. AAG continues to operate under the SAGE umbrella with primary focus being on publication of Applied-Geoscience, an open access, peer reviewed journal linking geoscience with application. STUDENT CHAPTERS

We are currently developing our plans for establishing student chapters, including physical and virtual chapters, at university and K–12 schools. 80% of student member dues stay with their chapter. Stay tuned for details.
