Professional Membership Application

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

At least 8 years of professional practice in an applied geoscience, engineering, or related field (e.g., land, legal, etc.). A Master’s degree and/or Doctoral degree in an applied geoscience or related field can count for 1 year and 2 years of experience, respectively, for a maximum of 3 years total. Internships qualify for work experience separately than the degree allowance. Note however that a college or university degree is NOT required for professional membership–your professional experience is the key qualifying factor of your membership.

• Sponsorship by 3 Founding or Professional Members. During the initial phase of membership applications, a committee of Founding Members will review and serve as sponsors for successful applicants.

• Professional members can qualify for Certified Professional Applied Geoscientist and/or Certified Professional Engineer status with fulfillment and maintenance of additional requirements yet to be determined.

• To maintain SAGE Membership status, all members must complete a 1–hr Ethics course each year. We anticipate posting an Ethics video a later date for your convenience.   

• DUES: Annual, $25; Life, $300.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF APPLICATION AND MEMBERSHIP

In submitting the electronic form below for Professional Membership within the Society of Applied Geoscientists and Engineers, Inc., you hereby affirm that all information provided is true and correct, and that any untrue or incorrect statements made in this application shall be sufficient grounds for denial of membership application, or if membership is approved for subsequent censure, suspension, or expulsion from the Society, as may be determined by the Board of Directors. Upon request by the Society, you agree to provide supporting documentation for any statements made during the application process.

You also agree to abide by the terms of the Constitution of the Society,  and that failure to do so shall be sufficient grounds for your censure, suspension, or expulsion from the Society, as may be determined and directed by the Board of Directors. You also affirm that said Constitution as now existing or as may be amended hereafter shall be the sole measure of your rights and privileges in the Society. You hereby agree that admission to the Society shall be granted or refused at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors, and further agree that in the event Professional Membership is not granted to you, or if granted and you are later censured, suspended, or expelled by the Board of Directors, you will make no claim against the Society, its Board of Directors, or any individual member.

Payment includes a non-refundable fee of $5 for processing your application. In the event that your application is unsuccessful, the remainder of payment will be returned.

The renewal date for new members is currently December 31, 2023.

You should then receive an automated email response verifying receipt of application. Note that the application review will not commence until payment is made in Step 2 below.

Note: If form submission is successful, you should see a notification as such in the lower left corner of the form, followed shortly by receipt of an automated email from SAGE Membership (membership@sagetech.org). The email contains submitted form field inputs for your records. If the email does not appear within your Inbox, please check your Junk folder. If you do not receive the send confirmation email or otherwise have issues with completing the online form, please free to send appropriate information (one field per line) via an email to membership@sagetech.org.

STEP 2:  Payment of Application Fee and Dues

Application review will only commence with payment of membership dues. Dues will be returned if the application is unsuccessful, less a $5 application processing fee.

Payment Method 2: By Mail: Please make check payable to Society of Applied Geoscientists and Engineers, Inc., or simply SAGE, and mail to SAGE, 7190–A Cemetery Hwy., St. Martinville, Louisiana  70582. We also kindly request that you send us an email to admin@sagetech.org with a note indicating payment by check.
